I first met up with CTDU in 2001 when Iyaah came to Falkirk College to meet with a group of us and we did an Active Citizen course with her. We made a banner, which we called ‘Equal People’ because that’s what we want to be treated as, and we took it to the Scottish Parliament and met some MSPs, and told them about the banner and why we had made it.
At CTDU we learn a lot about things that go on in the world, like the banana workers in Ecuador and how their lives have been affected by the the oil industry. Some of the local people can't farm there land any more because of the oil. We used the internet to learn about fair trade. We can use the computer all the time, and I like to practice typing for things Im involved in.
A group of us from CTDU and the Alloa Centre Client’s committee got asked to make a banner for the opening ceremony of the Scottish Parliament. Dennis Canavan and George Reid, MSPs and the BBC came to visit us at Bothkennar to talk to us about the banner when we’d made it. We take our banners out on visits and speak to other people about them.

I enjoy coming to CTDU because the people there are nice and gentle. It's helped me gain more confidence. I really like the social events where I can sing. CTDU has helped me to mix with different people and have a better social life. I went for a meal and to see Daniel O’Donnell in Edinburgh recently with some people I met at CTDU. In April I'm going to Blackpool with Jason and Lorraine from CTDU.
