Shadow puppets ....

In March, the Spring programme kicks off with 2 workshops on shadow puppets with Tansy Lee Moir. The aims are:

• To promote the students’ association to potential new members
• To illustrate the activities of the association in an accessible way
• To develop students’ presentation skills using creative methods

Monday, 19th March 2007
10 a.m to 3.00 p.m at Bothkennar

Gathering stories, identifying themes, storyboarding, demonstrating techniques, beginning making, improvising

Monday, 26th March 2007
10 a.m to 3.00 p.m at Bothkennar

Making puppets and sets, developing script, movement and sound, rehearsal

Friday, 27th April 2007 students will be perform their shadow puppet show in Coalsnaughton at the CTDU Associates launch.

The aim of the puppet show is to encourage new students to come to the students association training and meeting.

Film 4um ....

On 15th May 2007, students are hosting a Film 4um event showing Jan Nimmo's film 'Pura Vida'. The film makes a journey through Costa Rica and reveals the devastating effect the chemical cocktail used to grow bananas and pineapples is having on workers, neighbouring communities and the environment. All so we can buy cheap fruit at our local supermarkets.

The film and discussion will take place at Bothkennar.

Garden scupture ....

We're going to be making sculpture(s) for our garden at Bothkennar. Everyone welcome. Come and meet some new folk and join in the fun. Ann will be making us all lunch so you don't need to bring anything to eat!
